Knolles Crescent and Gould Close Flooding Issues
In September 2016 residents of Knolles Crescent and Gould Close attended a Council Meeting to highlight their concerns about risk of flooding to their homes and to bring to the Council’s attention the damage caused following heavy rains in June 2016. A video film was viewed at the meeting showing the strength and volume of the water flooding into their gardens and homes.
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council have informed us that the responsibility of drains and gullies lies with Hertfordshire County Council, who have stated that the gullies were cleared in September 2016 and no further action is planned.
Residents have now been asked to report any flooding issues at the actual time that it is happening. This can be done either via HCC on-line fault reporting system https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/faultreporting/ or by calling the Customer Service Centre (CSC) on 0300 123 4047.
This allows for an emergency crew to attend the site, where applicable and to mitigate any immediate hazard. These reports also help to maintain a history of such incidents and to determine if or what further works are required.
Land drainage would appear to be a large contributory factor and NMPC has written to a local landowner to request that he takes relevant action on the boundaries of his land to prevent the flooding problems experienced last year by residents.
